Volunteering with MSEL

If you’re able to support yourself financially and would like to obtain experience working on our projects then we’re happy to discuss this. Please note that volunteer divers will need stringent Scuba and rescue certifications of a minimum of PADI Divemaster.

Volunteer in video analysis of Palau reefs  NEW

We are now recruiting volunteers to assist the collection of data on fish grazing intensity from footage taken with high-definition video cameras in Palauan reefs.

Participants will gain experience in fish species identification, and will help us measure an important attribute of reefs which is informative of their resilience to physical disturbance.

What I’m looking for in a volunteer:
- Interested in coral reef ecology and conservation
- Thorough, responsible and detail-oriented
- Able to commit 2-4 hours per week of video analysis (can be spread over multiple days)
- It would be an asset if you already have some experience with fish species identification or scoring data from videos
